The Catholic Church has no credibility when it comes to morality

“A reminder that Catholics should not support or attend LGBTQ “Pride Month” events held in June. They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals. They are especially harmful for children.”

This fun quote comes to you from Rhode Island Bishop Thomas Tobin. And if you ever want to know why I left this mockery of a moral institution years ago to look for my god in a place not so disgusting, this says it all.

Let’s not forget this is the bishop who, while an auxiliary bishop in Pennsylvania, heard about the allegations of priestly abuse but said it was not his problem so he didn’t do anything about it. THAT wasn’t his problem but LGBTQ people are?

I’d like to start by pointing out that Jesus never mentioned anything about gay people in the New Testament. So these rules put out so filled with hate for people who want nothing more than to be allowed to live their lives in peace are based on the Old Testament which, if I remember my eternal Catholic school childhood, he came to replace.

Priest fucking kids – that a problem that the Church keeps saying it’s going to solve. It keeps saying it’s very important to them. They are going to do something. No really. They are. It’s just that they aren’t going to do anything meaningful like allowing women into the clergy or allowing clergy to marry.

And BTW, the last time I checked, Jesus’ followers included both men and women. As I have stated before, it was only the women who had the balls to stand with him at the cross and go to his grave. The men were busy hiding their sorry asses in some room and hoping no one found them. Yet somehow, this has come down to us as a church in which women are never allowed an equal voice because those men of the first centuries of the church made sure to destroy the memory of any woman who held power while Jesus was alive. And priest were able to marry until about 1000 AD and when that practice was stopped, it had more to do with keeping church property in the church’s hands than anything to do with morality.

So screw you, Bishop POS. You and your church can only dream of the day when your standards for morality come even close to that of the LGBTQ community. You claim they are especially harmful to children when the only people around who are screwing kids and calling it religion are your priests!

Well said Elise. I, like you, after 18 years of Catholic education, have found it impossible to listen to the drivel that comes out of the mouths of the so-called leaders of the church. Keep fighting the good fight.
