I feel sorry for any child when they lose a parent. But when Osama Bin Laden’s son laments at the way his father was killed and buried and threatens legal action in the United States for what was done, I have to wonder if he completely understood who his father was and what he stood for. His father oversaw the death of thousands whose families never had a chance to give them a decent burial according to any religious custom. In fact, they never even got the peace of actually knowing how or if their loved one perished because there was nothing left of the person.
Osama Bin Laden chose to live a life of violence, murder and death. He who lives by the sword most definitely runs the risk of dying by the sword. His father spread death and destruction based on some twisted belief in an evil and vengeful god. His end should not surprise anyone, including his son. Mourn your father as any child mourns their parent. But do not act as though his death through violence came as any surprise. It was written into his fate the day he took up arms against the innocent and declared war on a culture for merely daring to be different from his.
