Let’s adjust our summer to nature

There is a reason Alaska is called The Land of the Midnight Sun. It’s because that’s when you’re apt to actually see the sun in the summer. The rest of the time it’s foggy and cloudy. Everyone who has spent even just one year in Alaska will tell you that the prettiest time of the day starts in the evening when the sun finally comes through the clouds and by midnight, things outside are gorgeous.

So I say we stop fighting nature and just join hands with her. From now on, starting in May and going through until early September, Alaska’s day will start at 7 PM and end at 7 AM, which is about when the sun starts disappearing behind the clouds again. Screw the rest of the country if they can’t cope with our new hours. It’s more important that we get what sunlight we can when it’s actually here. Because come fall… well, let’s not even think about that.
