Why his death bothers me

Somewhere deep in the recesses of most of our hearts is the belief that the rich are different. They have to be. Because if they can die young from pancreatic cancer, if all their money can’t save them, then what chance do the rest of us have?

Thirty-nine years later

October 1 marked the 39th anniversary of the day I arrived in Alaska. October 3 marked the 39th anniversary of the day I arrived in Barrow. A package of Costco sponges

I have finally figured out that I use a Costco sized package of sponges approximately every 6.5 years. I don’t know what this says about me. But I’m pretty willing to bet my mother’s average would be nearer to once every six months.
