Murres, murres, murres

Bird TLC is inundated with starving murres. Has been for months. Volunteers working more hours than they do at their day jobs to care for them. The reason for the die off can be attributed to many factors but pointing fingers is not saving these birds. The utterly limitless dedication of the volunteers at Bird TLC is at least giving some of them a second chance. And for those too starved to be rehabilitated, Bird TLC provides a gentle way to cross that Rainbow Bridge.

I have the privilege of feeding Bird TLC’s education bird, Denali – The Golden Eagle, while he presenter is in Mongolia learning even more about golden eagles. He is holding his quail dinner and, I would guess from the look on his face, thinking, “Back off, puny human. This is MY quail.”

Happy Labor Day

This is what old Italian ladies used to do back in Philly during that golden age when they didn’t have to be a size 3 until they died and wearing black was always appropriate because you always knew of someone who died.

The name carries on today although today’s Joe Zeccardi is either a banker or philosopher depending on which generation you’re addressing.
