What some of us do on a Friday afternoon

I was walking through the bird room when the Everly Brothers’ song, ” All I Have To Do Is Dream”, came on the TV music channel I leave on for their amusement. Before I knew it, I was dancing and singing to the tune and I am proud to state that, for the first time ever, they did not try to scream over what I call my singing. I don’t know if they did it because I stunned them into silence with my rendition of that classic or whether they were simply stunned that I accidentally occasionally hit the right Continue reading →

Was this their plan all along

I see and hear from more and more people who are simply so tired and disgusted by the horror that is the current administration in DC that they want to just… and pardon this old hippie but it says it best… tune in and drop out. (I deliberately left out the turn on because unless we are talking about the tv, most of us old hippies are way too old to turn on.)

Anyhow, I have to wonder if this hasn’t been their plan all along – act so egregiously for so long that decent people will drop out of Continue reading →

And this is why no one goes to downtown Anchorage

So I went downtown to meet someone for brunch. Found a space across from the restaurant to park. Tried to pay the meter with my credit card. Wouldn’t take it. Looked for money. Had no ones. Looked for change. Gave the machine everything I had and then tried to do all my business before it expired.

Got out and, of course, found a ticket. Came home and, like a good little Catholic girl, immediately went online to pay it. Getting into the Easy Park system took the better part of twenty minutes of signing in and signing up so I Continue reading →

When someone breaks into a school in America, they show up armed with assault rifles and kill as many people as possible. In Mexico, they apparently break into schools and cut the hair of some of the women and girls in the school.

Now don’t get me wrong. Having men forcibly hold you down and chop your hair off with garden shears and machetes is a horrifying experience and can result in massive emotional and psychic trauma. But, at the end of the day, your hair grows back and you get on with your life.

We could wish no one Continue reading →

So much in so little time

So much happens in any single day in this POS’ administration that it’s hard to keep up. We forget his last stupid thing because he’s already gone on to say or do something even more outrageous. So let’s pick the best of the past few days.

Let’s start with POS Jr. getting divorced. Like father, like son, right? First, congrats to his wife on waking up one day and realizing what a horrible mistake she made by marrying into this family from hell. Then boo to this same woman for having five children by POS Jr. thus ensuring that these Continue reading →

The Republicans are strangely silent

Our national debt is now over $11 trillion. This is partly due, of course, to the Republicans need to fill the coffers of their biggest supporters through a tax plan that gives to the rich and takes from the poor in the form of reduced funding for those programs that provide safety nets for our most vulnerable populations.

Now if this had been happening  under Obama, the Rs would be rioting in the streets over fiscal irresponsibility and the need to rein in government spending. But for so long as they are placing this country in unbelievable debt for their Continue reading →

Not to worry

We won’t be skipping a month. We have our school shooting for March under our belts now. Can’t wait to see what April brings.

As a nation, we have truly lost our minds when some shithead whose penis is so small he needs weapons to feel big gets more protection than high school students just trying to learn French verb tenses.

Way to go, NRA.. And just out of curiosity, how many kids have to die before it occurs to you that too many have? Continue reading →

My heart breaks

Just got word that our Bird TLC family lost one of its dearest members. Hal, an education eagle that had been with us for thirty years, passed away on Sunday morning after thrilling people at our Bird TLC auction just the night before.

Hal was one of our most capable and entrancing ed eagles. His initial injuries as a very young bird precluded his release back to the wild. So he spent his life as an ambassador to our world from his. He was one helluva an ambassador too. When his eyes focused on you, it was as if he Continue reading →

So now we don’t respect the law?

As long as I can remember (and I’m a baby boomer from the very beginning of the boom so I’ve been around for a while) the Republican Party has stood as the party of law and order and respect for the men and women who serve to protect us. Now I find out that the FBI is full of lying sacks of shit who can’t be trusted as far as we can throw them. Yep, the new Republican Party seems to be a party of chaos and misdirection in its efforts to keep Russia from ever entering the front door Continue reading →

Are you kidding me?

Let me see if I have this straight before my head explodes.  The POS currently sullying the White House wants the Russian investigation ended and seems willing to fire everyone standing in his path on the issue. Meanwhile, the NRA is being investigated for taking money from foreign nationals… read Russians… to give to the Trump campaign. Yes, the same NRA whose butt Trump has firmly stuck his nose up.

Now just for a moment, imagine the president’s name is, I don’t know, let’s say Obama (God don’t we all wish!) and all this was happening. The Republicans’ heads would Continue reading →
