My two dogs spent most of yesterday morning lounging on the second deck, following the sun around. At one point, I looked out and saw Bubba dragging herself around to get more squarely into the sun. Apparently she didn’t want to put the effort into actually getting up to move. Ah those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer… even if we only have one or two a year.
Still giving even after death
When my aunt died recently, I had to buy something to wear to the funeral. Since I was back East, this ended up being something we refer to in my circle of friends as “Judy approved” clothing. The other term for it would be “an actually nice outfit”.
Since returning home, I’ve worn it at least four times to a variety of events for which I would have otherwise been… well, let’s just say, not so nicely dressed.
So it seems as though even in death my aunt continues to give to me by being the impetus behind this year’s

It is just wrong that it’s the middle of June and all I’m doing is walking through my house muttering about how I’m friggin’ freezing. I know this is Alaska… but still!
Gymnastics and chips
Is it just me or does it seem wrong to you too to watch gymnastic competitions on TV while sprawled on a couch eating chips with cheese dip?

Finally got around to seeing this movie. OMG! I wanted to rip my heart out to stop the pain it was feeling for poor George.
Come to me, George, and I’ll comfort you and make all your pain go away. My door and bed are ALWAYS open to you.
(And mom said I’d never be attracted to a nice Italian boy…. Ha!)
About that badly dressed Anchorites poll again…
Before I went to a friend’s house for dinner this weekend I called to see who was going to be there so I’d know if it was a bra or no bra dinner party. Don’t try to tell me that us Anchorites aren’t aware of fashion… why would I have called if it wasn’t for my desire to be appropriately clothed?
Bears and Barbecues
We are constantly warned not to leave bird seed out in summer as it will attract bears to our neighborhoods. But how come the bears aren’t attracted to our grills when we barbecue? Or to the grills after we’ve barbecued and there is meat stuck all over the grill bars? Does this mean we are putting food in our stomachs that even bears won’t eat?
Estimated time of arrival
Given the lovely summer we’re having so far, I estimate I will be giving out fresh raspberries sometime in December as I don’t think they will be ripe before that.
Congressional IQ
New studies are apparently showing that Congress is not the brightest group of bulbs in any given box. I would be laughing hysterically at the fact that someone thought they needed to do a study to reach this conclusion but it hurts to laugh at something that is so sad and painful. We elect dumb people and then wonder why we get dumb legislation. It’s really not all that complicated to run a line directly between those two things.
