The birds, the dogs and I all stare at each other sullenly. Three days of enforced togetherness with no break but for a brief foray to Bird TLC does not make for a happy household. If my body is found, look for talon and dog paw prints.
I love snowpocalypse days
As someone who works out of her house, it means I can wander around in my nightie with my hair all cattywampus and never worry about anyone coming to the door or anyone expecting me to go out my door. My lovely snow plowing service, ironically called Just Lawns, shoveled my walkway and found my newspaper so I will soon curl up with that. Maybe I’ll watch another movie. Watched The Hobbit over two nights this weekend. Can’t watch movies like that in the theater anymore because they have done away with Intermission and I simply can no longer sit

The linoleum
My mother once scrubbed the spots out of the linoleum on the floor in front of her stove and then wanted my father to return the linoleum as defective.
I don’t know why I find that story as funny as I do. But it always cracks me up.
Why I have to get a life
Because this week I found myself crying during the ending of NCIS (it involved a dog) and CSI (it involved a baby being born).
Seriously, where is my life?
On the one hand
As I age I realize that the thought of death, while still somewhat scary, is not half as scary as it was when I was younger. Maybe that’s because I don’t want to be the last woman standing, the last remnant of my group. I’d rather go earlier than later.
Domestic violence and sexual assault is a men’s problem too
Neither Lisa Murkowski nor public safety at any level can impact domestic violence and sexual assault in Bush Alaska as much as the good men of those villages can. The men in those villages need to stand up for their mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces and grandmothers. They must make it clear that anyone who hurts them is no longer a welcomed member of the community.
Currently, men who abuse at night can go out with their hunting partner in the morning and feel no consequences. Nothing is said or done that would make the abuser the slightest bit uncomfortable. Abusers
It really just comes down to…

It really just comes down to how pathetic and helpless you can look, doesn’t it? Why walk in that cold stuff when one sad stare upwards into the giant’s eyes will get you carried on your “walk”.

So there I am
So there I am, having a smart little dinner party with friends, chatting socially and enjoying life when BuddhaBubba strolls into the living room. She casually goes to one corner of the carpet, turns to face us and then squats and pees with a very calm expression on her face, as if to say, “No, carry on with your conversation. I can listen and pee at the same time.”
Sigh…
Hey, cardinal boys… here’s what you don’t get
Until you open your ranks to the other half of humanity… both in allowing married priests as well as female priests… you will continue to be a slightly musty and smelly old boys club that carries the taint of sexual abuse, misogyny and total irrelevancy. Do you not get that the minute a population develops an educated middle class, you lose most of your members and all of your influence? There’s a reason for that. So you just keep looking like the perverted anachronism you are and watch as you slowly decay and disappear. It’s happened before. The religions of
