And what did they die of….

Trying to give a family health history is always a challenge. In my family, the one thing we know for sure is that diabetes and heart disease are our personal choice by gene. Or, at least, we think they are. We know for sure about the diabetes because that’s been diagnosed multiple times. The heart thing is trickier. A lot of my relatives died by keeling over one day or by not waking up one morning. My family saw no reason for them to go to the hospital at that point because… well, they were dead. What use was a hospital. So the assumption was they had heart attacks. Or strokes. Or both. Or neither. I guess we’ll never really know.
