Maybe not the brightest bulb in the box

image

I put the cloth bag I use for groceries at the end of the hallway so the next time I go down the hallway to the garage I will take it with me to the car. The bag fell over. I thought nothing of it until I heard Snowy growling and barking. I looked up to see him staring at the fallen bag, growling, sneaking up on it slowly and then running backwards right before reaching it. The bag had him scared to death.

I guess you gotta love them no matter how dim they act.

Oh dear me

Apparently yesterday’s posting has upset the Christian right in town. Oh dear, oh dear. Someone remind me sometime in January when things are slow and it’s dark and cold to worry about this.

Prevo has reason to be nervous

My hope for humanity is that sometime in the not too distant future, the Jerry Prevo’s of this world will die out. I pray this happens before the Second Coming so that Jesus won’t be quite so angry at finding out what some people were doing in his name. Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” He did not ask his disciples to first ascertain their sexual orientation.

The difference between Jerry Prevo and Jesus is that Jesus inhabited a world of inclusion,

Jon Stewart

I miss Jon Stewart but I will miss John Oliver too. He’s been an amazing substitute host. Wish they would do a Huntley/Brinkley type of broadcast so we could have them both on air at one time. Now that would be Nirvana during the next presidential election… campaigning for which has, apparently, already started.

It’s my bed

I give my dogs a lot of leeway in all things. But when I try to move them over so there is room for me in my own bed and they let loose with a soft growl, I think things have gone too far. It’s my bed. I pay the bills. I buy the food. I have the opposable thumb that can work the thermostat. That gives me some priority on at least a section of the bed, right?

a perfect Sunday

It’s pouring rain. Grey. Cold. After a long hot summer, I’ve finally shivered in my house again. I sit in my bathrobe, hair askew, teeth the only things brushed, and plan a day around a newspaper, a book, a magazine, playing with my birds and otherwise being a total lump on the fabric of the earth.

A perfect Sunday.

Military sexual assault

The military doesn’t want changes in the chain of command for reporting and dealing with sexual assault in the military because it will interfere with the way things are done. Yet they somehow don’t think that 26,000 reported assaults (over half on men!) indicates that chain of command may already be broken and should be changed. And, gasp! surprise!, when the military brass went to Congress to testify about this they were, except for one person, all old white men. Now there’s a group sensitive to the topic, right?
