These are some of the orphaned baby birds we take care of at Bird TLC in the summer. How could anyone resist?

Happy Birthday, Greta
Now that you have your wonderful son Joe, you can start to understand the love and joy you brought into your parents’ life and, very especially, my life.
Much love on this special day.
Happy Birthday, Greta.
Happy Birthday, Big Brother
This is my big brother. He is VERY old today yet, thanks to the loving care he receives from the gorgeous broad standing next to him, he looks amazingly young and healthy. In my head, he’ll always be the kid I shared a room with at 6 North. And that’s a good thing.
Happy Birthday, Phil. Thanks for keeping him well preserved, Joan.
Honest, mom
I had no intention of pulling my pants down and running through the yard naked… honest!
My Easter wish
That this dad comes back from the mid East sooner rather than later so that his sons can once again sit on his lap and feel safe because they know he’s a superhero.
For the Birds Charity Auction
My shift was ending at Bird TLC when the gentleman came in holding something in a towel. He said he’d been working on offloading a freighter’s cargo when he was handed the towel. It contained a very tired, hungry and thirsty scoter, an unintentional hitchhiker to Alaska.
While scoters can be found in some parts of Alaska, they wisely tend to avoid Anchorage in the winter. But there is always one in every crowd who marches to his own drum, right? And the scoter staring up at us from the blanket was definitely that marcher.
The guy who brought him
My new friend Sassy
Just when I thought I couldn’t squeeze another bird into my home, along came Sassy, a delightful Senegal who was losing her foster home because her foster parents were moving out of state.
Sassy is a beautifully feathered, friendly little Senegal who would love to someday have a forever home. If you are interested in companion birds, please remember that there is no need to pay big bucks for a wonderful friend. The Alaska Chapter of the Parrot Education and Adoption Center has many great birds waiting to find their forever home.

The rewards of a life well lived
Holding your great grandchild in your arms and knowing his smile, the sound of his gurgle, the joy he brings to your heart.
Alzheimer’s is truly one of life’s cruelest diseases. I’m so glad it didn’t take my aunt too far away before she had this moment.
